Why do pools close during power outages?

June 22, 2017 – Lately there have been several electrical outages impacting our community. When an outage cuts the power to any of our pools, the impacted pool must be closed in accordance with Contra Costa County health codes.

A pool without power means that its water circulating pump, among other required devices, is not operating. For more information visit http://cchealth.org/eh/recreational-health/pdf/pool_operation_requirements.pdf.

When a pool is closed, please exit the pool and follow the directions of CHOA staff and lifeguards. Pool closures due to outages may occur at any time and notice may not be given before you visit the pool.
