Starting July 1st, the lower tennis and pickleball court hours are changing to 8am to 8pm daily. This update will happen automatically. Key fobs will not allow access before 8am or after 8pm.
This change is out of respect for our CHOA neighbors who live in close proximity to the courts and have had to deal with the increase in noise and traffic following the installation of our 4 new pickleball courts a few years back.
Pickleball is undoubtedly a very popular sport, but the paddles and balls can be quite loud. A quick online search will tell you about the uptick in noise-related lawsuits and complaints to local cities and municipalities regarding pickleball courts.
Our courts are pretty consistently busy and the Board wants to do its best to keep the impact down on nearby CHOA residents. Management will be looking into noise-reduction options like sound-absorbing panels to go around the court, or less noisy balls and paddles to let pickleball players test out (and perhaps adopt!).
